Title Specialist, Simulation Operations Department Senior VP Health Sciences (6801) Location UAHS - Tucson Position Summary
The University of Arizona Health Sciences seeking an experienced and innovative IT professional to support The Arizona Simulation Technology & Education Center (ASTEC) at the Tucson campus. As the Simulation Operations Specialist, you will provide support and maintenance to the ASTEC's applications, workstations, and simulation technology.
The selected candidate will collaborate with faculty and staff throughout UAHS to plan and execute all operational and technical aspects of simulated learning activities, simulation-based education, and scenario-based training for ASTEC. This position will support ASTEC to ensure that goals and objectives specified for the program are accomplished in accordance with priorities, time limitations, funding limitations or other specifications.

Duties & Responsibilities
Administer and coordinate day-to-day operations of the institution's patient simulators and related software, task trainers, digital/video/audio equipment, computer-based multimedia peripherals, and workstations.
Collaborate with staff to create innovative approaches to the technology that will maximize the utilization of the human patient simulators and associated equipment.
Contribute to the establishment and maintenance of policies, procedures and associated training plans for patient simulators.
Work closely with the COM ITS's Infrastructure team in network management, security controls, and disaster recovery for ASTEC.
Follow UA's and COM-ITS' security best practices and policies.
Control human patient simulators during scenario-based training sessions and demonstrations.
Function as a technical liaison with all simulation technology vendors.
Maintain records on the human patient simulators and associated equipment related to track utilization, performance, maintenance, system upgrades and user satisfaction.
Operate, provide support, and conduct routine hardware and software audits, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of patient simulators, digital/video/audio equipment, computer-based multimedia peripherals, workstations and control center to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines.
Provide assistance in the direct integration of technology into all curricular learning and/or research projects.
Provide orientation of simulation center equipment for facilitators and learners.
Research and evaluate medical simulation and educational technology practices, human patient simulators, products and services, and software and makes recommendations for upgrades and/or new technology.

Working knowledge of current human patient simulators and simulation/audiovisual platforms, including Laerdal, and CAE Healthcare.
1 year of experience in simulation operation/education/training, preferably with human patient simulator platforms and audiovisual equipment/operating software.
Experience with providing technical support in networking, computer hardware or software.
Experience in academic medicine, research, health sciences environment or higher education.
