Specialist - Assistant Catering Manager (Part-Time, Variable Hour)

Utah Valley University is seeking a driven and detail-oriented professional to join the Catering Department, assisting in the management of all aspects of catering operations. Working under the direction of the Catering Manager, this role involves coordinating key functions such as hiring, training, and scheduling, ensuring the smooth operation of the Catering Office. Additionally, you will collaborate with clients to meet their needs and ensure the successful execution of scheduled events. In the absence of the Catering Manager, you will take on catering responsibilities, ensuring the department continues to provide high-quality service. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment and is eager to contribute to the success of campus events.

• Supports the Catering Department through appropriate use of phone handling, emails, scheduling of appointments, greeting guests, answering general and specific inquiries and reporting data as needed, and maintaining accurate records, while providing excellent customer service to the internal and external clients.
• Assigns duties and schedules of student employees and coordinates events to ensure staff arrives on time, dressed in complete uniform and event is setup and served on time. Works collaboratively with fellow employees and managers. Possesses the ability to recognize teamwork and diversity throughout the department to resolve conflicts respectfully and in a timely manner. Demonstrate and leads with an engaging, positive attitude. Trains Catering Lead employees as to their individual responsibilities on daily events, weekly tasks and monthly tasks.
• Maintains inventories of catering supplies and equipment. Responsible for inventory control and ordering of equipment, catering supplies, paper, and linen as needed. Travels to off-site catering locations.
• Evaluates and recommends personnel needs and advancements as well aswithinthe department. Performs other job related duties as assigned.

Graduation with a high school diploma or GED.

Preferred Qualifications:

Working knowledge of Catering Computer Software, ideally Caterease.

Knowledge    

• Knowledge and experience using the catering software Caterease.
• Knowledge and understanding of human relationships.
• Knowledge of health and cleanliness standards for food preparation and presentation.
• Knowledge of catering event staffing
