Utah Valley University is seeking a part-time Specialist! The Specialist will work on Special Projects for the Dean of the Woodbury School of Business, primarily in developing and implementing the Hope Scholars: Capturing Human Potential program.

  • Design program structure, develop curriculum, connect with participants, and implement strategy and program details including marketing initiatives or community outreach.

  • Event planning and implementation of program format including event participation, and activity facilitation.

  • Assist students to refine and integrate their education and career goals, engage in individual advising appointments, email, or phone communication with program participants or interested students to promote student success.

  • Research first-generation topics and advise deans and/or faculty on this specialty.

  • Perform other jobs as coordinated with the program team or dean.

Bachelor's degree in a related field

Preferred Qualifications:   

Network experience

  • Knowledge of the basic information related to student success and retention.

  • Knowledge of how to help students with their academic difficulty and how to be successful in college and some support resources at the university.

  • Knowledge in preparing and completing action plans.

  • Knowledge in resolving programs.  Knowledge in current and emerging trends regarding target audience.

  • Knowledge of how to determine system improvements.

  • Knowledge of how to implement change based on research.

  • Knowledge of critical issues and potential challenges of the target audience.

  • Skills in the use of personal computers and related software applications including basic data management.

  • Skills in creating, composing, and editing written materials.

  • Skills in presenting, interviewing, or facilitating in small group dynamics and establishing professional relationships with participants.

  • Skills in organization and implementation of action plans to create meaningful events and adapt or redesign as needed.

  • Skills in reflection and analysis to determine the effectiveness of program design and construction.

  • Skills in networking and establishing inter-college and cross-campus relationships.

  • Ability to represent the Woodbury School of Business internally and externally in a professional manner.

  • Ability to listen, analyze, interpret,and mitigate individual participant needs and to make appropriate recommendations for engagement or referrals to internal/campus resources.

  • Ability to assess objectives and operational requirements and to develop and implement suitable operation policies and/or procedures.

  • Ability to communicate with team and WSB leadership regarding organizational details, professional or program development needs, and recommended revisions.

  • Ability to assess and interpret individual participant needs and to make appropriate recommendations for engagement or referrals to internal/campus resources.
