Northern Trust is delivering an IT strategic change program to modernize and reduce complexity across the applications required to support its clients through the lines of business. This position is responsible for driving the implementation of change across the application platforms to improve resiliency and reduce risk in the application portfolio.
The ideal candidate would have a strong IT cross-functional background and experience in delivering complex technical solutions. The Specialist, Platforms Lead role reports to the head of IT Solutions Consulting and is part of the Enterprise Architecture group.
Person should be a multi-disciplinary IT expert with strong knowledge of strategic program design, product management, expertise in solution delivery and required competencies.
Person should have skills in translating broad strategic intent into tactical plans and directions to enable delivery.
Authoritative knowledge of enterprise architecture fundamentals

Excellent leadership, organizational skills and management skills, are required to meet goals.
Ability to work in matrix organization to drive change.
Person must have excellent negotiation and conflict management skills and have experience working with senior stakeholders
Preference for an understanding of Asset Servicing, Asset Management or Wealth Management with functional knowledge
Excellent writing, problem solving, presentation and storytelling skills.
Define tiered definitions of platform resiliency and risk for future state
Develop disposition model to prioritize applications for architecture assessment
Partner with application managers, solution architects and infrastructure engineering to design future state end to end platforms (customer experience, application delivery, infrastructure enabled)
Drive implementation of required application, middleware and infrastructure changes leveraging modern agile practices
Interact closely with the Enterprise Architecture team to standardize technology patterns
Align with cloud strategy work to determine applicability of private, hybrid and public cloud delivery
Ensure platform delivery aligns with information security roadmap
Partner with line of business CIOs to enable delivery of platform change in optimal way
Define objectives and key results for platforms work and measure to ensure progress each quarter
Identifies top enterprise barriers to the key objectives and works across CIOs, BUs, HR, Finance, and IT to remove impediments
Collaborates with vendors to achieve the platforms outcomes
1.Requires a college or university degree and/or relevant proven work experience, organizational, leadership, and management skills to provide knowledge to the functional business.
2.Extensive experience, that has been developed over 15+ years, in change / design initiatives, covering such areas as operations, IT and product development; with a track record of accomplishment in large, complex projects and change initiatives.
3.Strong experience in providing strategic direction, enterprise architecture and solution delivery
