Summary:
The Division Pipeline Specialist is responsible for the support of high-pressure natural gas, hazardous liquids, and crude oil pipeline operations as it applies to daily activities and associated projects for assigned locations within the Division.
The Pipeline Specialist's responsibilities include technical support, training, project development and execution, O&M and Capital budget support and management, as well as support of corporate initiatives/projects.
The Pipeline Specialist works with field operating personnel daily to provide technical expertise and assistance to Area Directors, Operations Managers, Engineers, Technicians and other operating personnel as required to assure the safe and reliable operation of pipeline facilities, damage prevention, public awareness, and pipeline integrity programs. He/she is regarded as maintaining a high level of expertise in his/her discipline and is considered a ready resource of information by peers across the Company.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The essential job duties for this position are listed below:
Damage Prevention and Public Awareness; Work with area teams, management and Houston Public Awareness and Damage Prevention managers to coordinate, administer and document contractor, utility, one-call, landowner and other public awareness and damage prevention training and communications. Serve as Area liaison for aerial patrol program.

Valve, rupture mitigation valve control and valve actuator commissioning and troubleshooting
Safety and regulatory compliance audits/inspections
Alternate MAOP and Special Permit technical and compliance.
Project management of assigned Area managed projects
Provide a leadership role in the company's response to pipeline emergencies and failures.Perform failure investigations as assigned.
Provide Monthly Key Performance Indicators to Areas and Division on MCA, HCA, and Class Change evaluations, One Call ticket response, valve repairs, IMS entries, encroachments, damage prevention and shallow cover status.
Provide support for onshore and offshore natural gas pipeline, hazardous liquid, and crude oil pipeline facilities in the South Division.
Requirements:
Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below:
6+ years of related work experience
HS diploma or equivalent
Possess excellent knowledge of safety procedures, regulatory and Operations and Maintenance requirements associated with pipeline operations and maintenance in the natural gas industry.
Must be highly motivated and able to work with minimum supervision.
Job duties require solid analytical and problem solving skills to review data from multiple sources, identify trends and root causes.
Must be organized and able to effectively schedule, establish priorities and plan efficiently. Able to adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
Candidate must be able to work without direct supervision and have excellent organizational skills.
Possess human relations skills to effectively operate in a work crew-oriented environment with a willingness to support work crew objectives.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to enable incumbent to work closely with field work crews and Area Management; and coordinate work with other appropriate technical resources.
Strong computer literacy and proficiency
Working Conditions:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
Subject to hazardous conditions including escaping gas, liquid spills, adverse weather conditions and temperatures, heights, high-pressure gas and liquids, heavy lifting and cramped conditions.
Must have a proven safe driving record, and incumbent is subject to U.S. Department of Transportation Drug & Alcohol related regulations.
New hires to the Company will be required to take and pass a pre-employment drug test and are subject to a background check.
Position will be filled at appropriate level based on skill and experience.
Will require approximately 75% travel within the Division and the assigned area of responsibility.
Employees are required to live within 45 minutes of their reporting location.
Natural gas transportation is an "around the clock" operation and incumbents are required to be reasonably available to respond to emergency and other operational needs whenever they occur and are subject to call-out 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
