Specific vacancies may include both full and part time, continuing and non-continuing positions. Full time positions are 7.75 hours per day for 182 days plus 3 TRI days and 5 extended days. In addition, Physical Therapists receive a yearly stipend of up to $1,000.

Minimum Qualifications:
Valid Washington State Educational Staff Associate certificate as a school physical therapist.

JOB TITLE: PHYSICAL THERAPIST

JOB SUMMARY: Provide physical therapy and related evaluations for children as determined by the evaluation and IEP team.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Organize and plan a program of evaluation or treatment of students with gross motor and/or sensory handicaps that adversely affect their educational progress.

  • Plan appropriate treatment programs and develop and maintain materials necessary for implementation of this program.

  • Conduct a therapy program which aids the individual to receive a free, appropriate public educational program as described it the student's Special Education IEP.

  • Collaborate and/or consult with other staff as appropriate.

  • Maintain records, submit reports and evaluate the effectiveness of the program.

  • Plan and provide clear and intentional focused instruction based upon individual student IEP goals using state standards, subject matter content and district curriculum.

  • Recognize individual student learning needs and develop strategies to address those needs for the purpose of promoting individual achievement.

  • Foster and manage a safe, positive learning environment for the purpose of promoting effective student behavior and success.

  • Communicate and collaborate with parents and school community for the purpose of fostering student success and achievement, and meeting special education laws and policies.

  • Participate in and facilitate various meetings for the purpose of addressing student goals and needs, and to meet laws and policies. Meetings may include school and department, manifestation determination, eligibility, evaluation and placement.

  • Maintain and process accurate records/documents as required by State and Federal regulations and district policy.

  • Direct the work of assigned classified staff.

  • Implement and comply with District policies and the Code of Professional Conduct.

  • Maintain consistent attendance and conform to regular work hours specified under contract.

  • Fulfill other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

JOB REQUIREMENTS; MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with others.

  • Ability to interact positively and effectively with parents, students, staff and administrators.

  • Ability to effectively communicate in verbal and written formats with a variety of constituents.

  • Ability to operate technology devices and specific software programs.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

  • Ability and commitment to strengthen job-related competencies.

EDUCATION:

  • Valid Washington State Educational Staff Associate certificate as a school physical therapist

  • Valid Washington State licensure

  • Valid Washington State driver's license required

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Successful and recent experience as a physical therapist in a school setting

  • Student cultural and economic diversity experience, preferred
