General Summary:

A Specialist Enterprise Elite Technician is responsible for providing technical support to Windstream Elite Customers. The Elite customer base is made up of Fortune 500 businesses, State and Government agencies, Hospitals, Educational Institutions and key enterprise customers.

Services supported include Dedicated Internet, Ethernet, ATM, Frame Relay, Managed Router, VLS, MPLS, VPN, Dynamic IP, Fiber Access, Business LD, Business Voice, and other personalized services.

The individual will be expected to troubleshoot and resolve network and customer facing issues in a 24 x7 Network Operations Center.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for analyzing, testing, isolating and repairing network and customer issues. This may include any or all issues related to transport facilities, network routing/ translations or TDM Voice, VoIP and IP products and service

  • Specialists interface directly with Vendors, Sales Engineering, Account Management and Customer's technical support staff in order to resolve customer impacting issues. This includes performing customer advocacy duties while maintaining a positive and professional manner at all times even during high stress situations.

  • Utilize ticketing systems to record and track resolution of customer issues. The candidate must be willing to provide detailed information on each ticket with notes of steps taken, test results and resolution data.

  • Field customer calls and escalation via Automatic Call Distribution (ACD) queue

  • Must have the ability to work non-traditional work schedules covering 7 x 24 x 365 operations

  • Other duties may be assigned

  • Must have great customer service skills, the ability towork independently and excellent computer skills to be considered.

  • Must have the ability to work holidays and weekends whenrequired

Desired Qualifications:

  • A.S. / B.S. in Telecommunication or CCNA certification preferred or equivalent work experience.

  • An understanding of telecom switching topology and network architectures, trouble ticket system knowledge, facilities and equipment system knowledge(CLR/DLR/Technical WordDoc), knowledge of Remote Circuit Testing and experience in dealing with LEC's and other carriers helpful.

Minimum Requirements:

High School diploma or equivalent and 6 years experience with 4 years directly related to the job. College hours or a college degree may be substituted for some experience as deemed appropriate.

In this high-stress, fast-paced environment, Specialists are expected to manage customer relationships, utilize proper troubleshooting methodologies, and ultimately provide a positive repair experience for our business-class customers. Job Responsibilities * Utilize and multitask between multiple systems to verify customer services and perform in-depth trouble isolation and repair * Maintain workload via a trouble ticket queue, detailing each ticket with notes of steps taken, test results and resolution data * Perform customer advocate duties while maintaining a positive and professional manner at all times, during high stress situations * Advocate for the customer by working cooperatively with carriers and vendors, both internal and external, escalating issues as needed * Provide excellent customer service by communicating progress and resolution to customers on a regular basis, via inbound and outbound phone calls, and/or email, for each ticket * Contribute to realizing departmental company net promoter score goals (NPS) and mean time to repair objectives (MTTR) * Perform other duties as deemed necessary by management Essential Skills and Capabilities * Possess a general working knowledge of telecommunications products and processes * Must possess excellent customer service and interpersonal skills * Must possess technical aptitude for performing tasks in switches, routers and other telecommunications equipment * Ability to work a flexible schedule as our center is open 24/7x365 * Punctuality and reliability are essential * Ability to multi-task between multiple computer applications is a must, as is the ability to type quickly and accurately while speaking on the phone * Ability to work with teammates effectively in a high volume, fast paced, collaborative work environment * Ability to effectively handle distractions, and work in a high-stress environment for prolonged periods of time Preferred Technical Qualifications * General understanding of telecom switching topology and network architectures, and Outside Plant Layout (OSP) * General knowledge of the OSI model * Experience with remote testing of T1 circuits utilizing React and other remote testing tools * Experience with trouble ticketing and inventory systems, such as Remedy and MetaSolve (M6) * Ability to read and comprehend Circuit Layout Records (CLR) and Design Layout Records (DLR) * Familiarity with Alcatel-Lucent and/or Tellabs DACS for analyzing T1 and T3 for errors, deleting and adding cross connects, and other basic command sets * Experience troubleshooting and configuring MUXs * Experience with voice switches and edge routers with regards to troubleshooting, specifically, Lucent 5eSS, Nortel DMS, Genband G9, as well as Cisco and Juniper edge and Adtran customer premise equipment (CPE) routers * Ability to troubleshoot managed equipment such as routers and channel banks Minimum Requirements: Associate's Degree in a technical discipline and 2-3 years technical/telephony experience with 2 years directly related to the job; or 5 years of directly related telephony experience or an equivalent combination of education and/or directly related telephony experience required.
