We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of HES Ops Specialist in our Permian Resources group based in Midland, Texas.

Essential Duties:

This position is the focal point for integrating HES practices into daily operations of a cross-functional team which includes operations and support functions. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: implementing programs, procedures, practices, and processes to ensure compliance with the Company's HES strategies such as:

  • Safe work systems/permit-to-work, e.g., hot work, energy isolation, confined space entry, ground disturbance

  • Behavioral-based safety/POWER2 program

  • Waste management, pollution prevention, waste minimization, and spill response planning

  • Emergency response planning, including annual emergency/fire drills

  • Gas monitoring instrument management, e.g., 4-gas monitors, personal H2S monitors, etc.

  • Fire/safety equipment inspection and maintenance oversight

  • HES Management System implementation and monitoring

  • Contractor safety management

  • Manage HES files for the plant/field

  • HES incident investigation, reporting and root cause analysis, e.g., TapRooT

  • Plant/field inspections/audits of processes with regard to HES requirements

  • HES training/safety meetings for company employees and core contract personnel

  • Other essential duties include: HES presentations, report writing, development of training programs, and interpretation of data, standards, codes, regulations and providing HES leadership and technical expertise to company and contract personnel at all levels

Requirements:

  • 3 years of HES experience in the oil and gas industry and/or a B.S. or two year Degree in Industrial Hygiene, Safety Engineering or Environmental Practices (experience will be considered in lieu of degree)

  • Knowledge and training in safety, environmental and health practices to include interpretation of data, standards, codes and regulations (e.g., NFPA, OSHA- PSM, ANSI/ASSE, API, etc.)

  • Time management and organizational skills

  • Ability to work independently without continuous direction

  • Good oral and written communication skills

  • Computer skills Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint

  • Excellent interpersonal and team skills

  • Willingness/ability to spend /- 75% working in the plant/field in support of contractor and employee HES management

  • Ability to work in a PSM plant with high volumes of sour natural gas and enrolled in the plant respiratory protection program

  • Have a valid driver's license with an excellent driving record

Additional:

  • Bilingual (Spanish) is preferred

  • Demonstrated self development activities continued education, participation in special projects

  • CSP, OHST, CSHO, or other safety-related credentials or certifications desired

  • Facilities and Construction background desired

We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position HES Senior Advisor in our Permian Resources Midland Basin group based in Midland, Texas. HES Sr. Advisors are critical members of Oxy's integrated team since the foundation of Oxy's business. The primary objective for this position is to be the focal point for integrating HES practices and policies into daily well servicing operations which includes operations and support functions. The position is responsible for working with OOG Well Servicing department, business unit operations and HES personnel and business unit HES Manager to assure optimization of well servicing HES performance through evaluation of business unit incident statistics and trends, development and implementation of policies, standards, procedures, guidelines and contractor management. Essential Functions: * Direct interaction with contractors developing safety improvement opportunities to drive contractor's performance to an Incident Free Operation (IFO). * Coordinate with Team Leads, HES Manager, and HES Specialists to: * Clearly define and prioritize roles and responsibilities for the asset HES Specialist position in the area of well servicing. * Establish annual goals and objectives for HES Specialist position in the area of well servicing. * Ensure adequate resources are provided to HES Specialists to accomplish goals and objectives. * Conduct periodic 1 on 1 meetings with HES Specialists and Team Leads to: * Monitor progress toward defined HES goals and objectives. * Determine opportunities for continuous HES performance. * Ensure adequate HES support is being provided. * Maintain strong knowledge of federal regulations and industry practices in the field of well servicing and educate the business unit operations and HES personnel on these. * Provide guidance to HES and Operations personnel on daily HES issues regarding well servicing tasks. * Participate in industry well servicing HES groups (AESC, STEPS, ASSE, IADC) * Keep the business unit apprised of new initiatives in the well servicing industry. * Ensure timely and accurate reporting of well servicing HES key performance indicators (KPI's). to various management levels within the organization. * Coordinate the collection of data related to HES key performance indicators. * Conduct trend analysis to identify improvement opportunities. * Develop KPI reports. * Coordinate and participate as needed in incident investigation initiatives. * Lead and participate in TapRooT Root Cause Analyses as needed. * Review well servicing incident investigation reports as required to ensure accuracy. * Coordinate and participate as needed on contractor safety audit initiatives. * Coordinate and participate as needed in internal HES related audits. * Lead and Participate in Business Unit Well Servicing SERE Team meetings. * Actively promote the SERE and BBS initiatives. Required Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in engineering or science or a minimum of 10 years related work experience, preferably in oil and gas exploration and production operations. * Thorough knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations. * Computer skills - – Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint * Project leadership / management experience. * Interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to relate across all levels of the organization.
