This position is located off site in Orange County, CA. The Specialist Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring that delivered products and/or services conform to contractual and the Company's requirements by designing, implementing, evaluating and continually improving quality assurance and control methods and systems.

The Specialist Quality Engineer will translate design drawings and contractual requirements into a comprehensive, understandable and functional quality plan; monitor and closely support manufacturing, inspection and supplier functions that relate to product quality; coordinate with the customer the establishment of government quality requirements and material review board activities; represent quality assurance in corrective action activities; and participate in audits or product evaluation to determine the effectiveness of the quality assurance program.

Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)
25% - Visit suppliers and perform investigation and root cause analysis to drive improvements into their processes. Be accountable for assigned suppliers' performance and ensure suppliers are performing with a 100% quality rating.
25% - Visit suppliers to review product & process issues. Interface with internal and external customers; i.e., engineering, manufacturing, supplier, procurement to ensure requirements are met. Analyze supplier processes and planning to verify compliance with purchase orders, engineering drawings, processes, specifications, etc.
15% - Visit suppliers to review technical, quality and other contractual requirements and ensure the supplier has an adequate understanding to develop a plan to meet all the requirements. Review the suppliers' plans for adequacy and ensure all requirements are met. This includes, pre-award, post award, manufacturing readiness and other periodic reviews as requested.
15% - Work with suppliers to resolve issues with purchase order inspection packages. Investigate and report supplier quality history as requested by quality engineering or Quality & Mission Assurance (Q&MA) management.
10% - Participates in managing the supplier ratings/scorecard system and overseeing periodic meetings.
10% - Work closely with Planners, Program Quality Engineers, and Receiving Inspection to resolve supplier issues.

Requirements

Requires a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate discipline and nine (9) years of directly related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

US Citizenship Only Required. Dual Citizenship does not meet job qualifications.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (requires U.S. Citizenship).


Additional Requirements and

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in manufacturing and/or inspections required.

  • Strong problem solving, RCCA and investigation experience required.

  • Experience with composites is desired.

  • Experience with electronic components is desired.

  • Certified Quality Engineer strongly preferred.

Driver's License Requirement:

Some positions may require possession of a valid driver's license. Employees who drive on company business to carry out job-related duties must possess a valid driver's license for the class of vehicle driven and meet automobile insurability requirements of the Company. Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit or stand and maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 25 pounds; may require occasional walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto.

May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.

The candidate will contribute to the design and development of special test equipment for military and space Avionics products. The candidate will be developing technical specification, performing electronics design, fabrication and integration and test activities for the Avionics Integration & Test Department, as well as developing software for custom designed Avionics test equipment products. The ideal candidate should have had exposure to analog and digital design activities have hands-on experience in an electronics laboratory environment and experience in a test software programming language such as LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI, Visual Basic, or C++. This position may be filled at this level or one level higher. Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each) 40% - Under supervision of senior engineering staff, design and develop test equipment hardware and software designs for testing flight level avionics controllers, sensors, power electronics and the associated cabling. 20% - Develop specifications and design documentation associated with avionics test equipment hardware and software designs. 20% - Support the integration and verification of avionics test equipment designs in an electronics laboratory environment. 20% - Support the coordination and presentation of avionics test equipment design, manufacturing and integration activities with other internal organizations such as Program Management, Avionics Design, Manufacturing and Quality Engineering. Requirements Requires a Bachelor's degree in electrical design, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. US Citizenship required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (U.S. Citizenship required). Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.
