Additional Schedule Details: This is an on-campus position. Normal hours are Monday

  • Friday 8:00am-4:30pm with an hour lunch. Winter (between Fall/Spring semesters) and Summer hours are typically Monday

  • Thursday, 7:30am-5:00pm with 1/2 hour lunch.

Job Summary/Basic Functions

The Student Accounting Services Collections Specialist manages the processes related to AR and Perkins delinquent student accounts including working with outside collection agencies, the KY Department of Revenue and the Department of Education.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree required. Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.

Experience: Two years of experience is required. Experience with student financial services, internal or external collections, and accounting or finance is preferred.

Critical thinking and decision-making skills are essential in terms of federal and state regulation application and the handling of internal policies and procedures to protect university assets. The ability to determine priorities and timetables will be essential in this position.

Job Duties:

  • 55% - Manages all aspects of delinquent student accounts ensuring Federal regulations and internal procedures are followed and performed at a high level of accuracy. This includes tracking and auditing student accounts, account placement with third party collection agencies and the KY Department of Revenue; processing agency payments and monthly reports, as well as tracking close and recovery rates for the agencies. - ()
  • 30% - Manages various tasks involving bankruptcy notifications, former student payment plans, data audits and invoice payments. - ()
  • 10% - Manages the Perkins Loan portfolio ensuring Federal regulations and internal procedures are followed and performed at a high level of accuracy. This includes account assignments to the Department of Education and processing monthly reports and action items. - ()
  • 5% - Supports the office functions by completing all other duties and special projects as assigned. - ()
