POSITION TITLE: SPECIALIST: BEHAVIOR MANAGEMENT
JOB DESCRIPTION:
To provide professional development and individual teacher support regarding general education
classroom behavior practices. This may entail whole class or individual feedback/observations, support
for behavioral data collection, positive behavior interventions, social-emotional learning, and other
strategies to support academic and behavioral competence for students.

Use knowledge of the Functional Behavior Assessment and Behavior Intervention Plan process to
provide consultation to teachers and schools.

Participate in training as assigned by the supervisor.
Collaborates with principals, SAT Team, Principal Support Specialists, and Special Education
department on program and student needs.
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE:
Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
Experience educating, mentoring or coaching adults.
Knowledge of protective and risk factors and previous training in specific behavioral and trauma informed strategies.
Experience with both general and special education populations.
Experience with linguistically and culturally diverse communities.
Flexibility, organization, decision-making and problem-solving skills.
Ability to meet deadlines, work on multiple projects and coordinate the work of others.
Sensitivity and knowledge of cultural effects on behavioral norms.
Willingness to become trained in AIM as a facilitator.
REQUIREMENTS:
NM teaching, counseling or administrative license.
5 years of school experience working directly with students utilizing positive behavior management strategies.
Willingness and ability to work flexible hours and travel between schools.
