Job Description:

This position is to support to the Animal Well Being efforts at Tyson Fresh Meats, live swine production. Responsibilities will include the first line of support to develop animal welfare strategies; assist marketing claims related to animal welfare raising practices; interacting with internal stakeholders, industry and research bodies on animal welfare issues to ensure welfare compliance.

The Animal Wellbeing Generalist should be a highly customer centric individual with a bias toward change and the ability to assist in propelling team.

Specific Responsibilities include: Interact with external vendors in the scheduling of farm audits, develop audit selection list and site coordination; Management of incoming data and outgoing reports associated with the internal animal welfare audits, FarmCheck programs, training both company and contract producers on animal well-being standards; Assist in composing and editing of corporate on-farm reviews, internal training or communications manuals, presentations, and other program materials as developed by The Pork Group; Developing and implementing various communications and surveys related to animal wellbeing matters; and Assist and/or conduct internal animal welfare audits as necessary.

This position is responsible for all aspects of the business at the farm level for a 5,000 sow unit facility. Position is responsible for the production of ahigh quality product in a timely manner while maintaining a safe work place and clean environment. This position is also responsible for the training of the team members respective to the facility. Specific duties include directing and providing leadership to all farm Team Members, all costs and production volumes at the farm level including spending/budgeting, the safety of all farm Team Members and the biosecurity of the unit and farm; all environmental issues including pit and lagoon level compliance, water and air quality, waste removal and reporting. Other requirements are ensuring Customer Satisfaction including PQA (Pork Quality Assurance) as well as facility and dwelling maintenance; implementing and monitoring policies and procedures including standard operating guidelines and human resources policies and procedures; reporting production numbers, environmental numbers, safety issues, accidents and human resources issues timely and accurately as well as any other duties that may arise. REQUIREMENTS: Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent. Experience: 3 or more years of experience managing a live swine production facility; a complete knowledge of the animal flow, processing, ventilation, feeding and vaccination protocols. Computer Skills: Basic computer skills. Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills. Special Skills: Ability to build working relationships with other Team Members that foster open communication, increased productivity and safety.
