JOB SUMMARY:

This position performs functional accounting and financial reporting responsibilities as part of the Finance Shared Services Organization (Account-to-Report division of Sanofi Business Services), including the various day-to-day tasks such as booking journal entries, reconciling accounts, preparing reports, analyzing financial data for all North American legal entities. The position will be heavily involved in the month-end close and reporting process as well as the subsequent analysis of financial information reported.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assists in the North America monthly closing process by completing items required to effectively close the books (booking journal entries, analyzing transactions, determining accounting schemes, etc.). Position will take ownership of full reporting package (BS, P&L and disclosure schedules) for assigned Legal Entities. Assist in the complete process of preparing, reviewing, coordinating, and reporting actual financial results accurately and timely by the deadlines established by Corporate Consolidations. Responsible for analysis of financial information reported including research and documentation of fluctuations during the period.

Preparation of recurring reports such as statutory financial statements and various government reports as required. Assist in the preparation of non-recurring reports and/or schedules for "ad hoc" requests as they arise. Assist in ERP implementation project for the phased roll-out of SAP S4 Hana including system testing, review of data migration and other support for the project.

Partners with the business units to continuously improve the services, accuracy and timing of the reporting function. Maintains and cultivates strategic partnerships with North America controlling and management teams to ensure integration and implementation of efficient process and policies. Supports external and internal audit requests and ensures team's compliance with all Sarbanes-Oxley internal control requirements for assigned areas.

The position demands a considerable amount of service orientation, built around the concept of internal customers. A tolerance for ambiguity and willingness to accept change as part of overall process is required. Requires excellent communication both in writing and verbally, proactive, willing to challenge the status quo, ability to problem solve and investigate issues independently and as a team, and to effectively collaborate with other cross-functional teams.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration from an accredited four-year college or university

  • Accounting major is preferred

  • 2-5 years' accounting experience

  • Public Accounting is preferred

  • CPA license is preferred or working towards

The position drives the financial activities at Swiftwater a Sanofi company, by providing accurate analyses of current and future financial performance, ensuring financial compliance, identifying risks & opportunities, and advising management on business improvement actions. He/she is also responsible to ensure compliance with Sanofi Pasteur and Sanofi Group policies & procedures and related reporting obligations. The position is responsible for contributing to the management of financial systems, which includes implementing process and system improvements for financial systems, implementation of new systems, and control of the integration between Financial and Operational systems. This position is responsible for closing and reporting activities for both the US and the Consolidated P&L on a monthly basis. Assists in the planning and organization of the financial activities within the sites (e.g. budgeting, controlling, cost of goods computation, reporting, accounting, financial systems, policies & procedures. Makes proactive recommendations on business and financial improvement including financial processes. Support ad hoc initiatives, projects, assignments. Maintain working relationships with site, regional, and global multidiscipline operations and finance personnel and management. Ensures strong monitoring of the Financial KPIs to actively contribute to achieve the defined objectives for his/her perimeter (added value/activity, write-offs, financial impact of technical master data, POV analysis, expenses, labor efficiency, headcount (RHC & APH) and local and regional/global metrics). Key contributor to the finance monthly closing and reporting process. Calculation of Capitalized Variances and major balance sheet and P&L classifications. Deliver accurate reporting and provide meaningful variance analysis. Responsible for assigned internal control procedures and proper application of Sanofi Pasteur and Sanofi Group policies and procedures. Manages the financial systems architecture (SAP, HFM, etc) for all SP IA US sites, including system implementations, process improvements, internal controls & data integrity. Investigates improvement of systems and processes within SP IA US and the North American IA network.
