BASIC FUNCTION & RESPONSIBILITY: Support the Technology Coordinator in the maintenance, repair, and installation services on a variety of district electrical and electronic equipment with a focus on communication systems. This includes but is not limited to all district: communication/intercom/sound/p.a./bell/clock, security systems, card-access systems, radio communication systems, analog telephone systems & equipment, fiber-optic/copper cabling & equipment, video surveillance systems, control systems, and other equipment as needed.

ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work experience; 3-5 years of related experience; CCNA, Network+, MCP, Panduit, CCNP Enterprise, or CCIE Enterprise Infrastructure certifications preferred

Management of Administrative, Fiscal and/or Facilities Functions:
Configure, manage, support the district's physical alarm system equipment and related hardware and software
Configure, manage, support the district's video surveillance system equipment and related hardware and software
Configure, manage, support the district's card access system system equipment and related hardware and software
Configure, manage, support the district's communications equipment and related hardware and software
Configure, manage, support the BISD Police monitoring systems equipment and related hardware and software; Serve as main technical support contact for the BISD Police department
Configure, manage and support the district's VoIP infrastructure including capacity/feasibility planning, new installations, upgrades, configuration, feature functionality testing, maintenance, troubleshooting, back-up systems, security procedures/protocols, operating procedures and guidelines, and user connectivity
Perform routine testing and evaluation of district communication and security systems and make recommendations for improvement and adoption of new technologies; Test back-up procedures; Update documentation
Coordinate communications and security closet clean-up, switch port optimization, and survey work as needed
Troubleshoot problems related to all campus clock/bell systems; Adjust time, diagnose, repair, and replace hardware as needed
Troubleshoot problems related to all campus Public Address systems; Diagnose, repair, and replace hardware as needed
Support the Systems Support Technician II with any necessary physical installs and terminations of copper and fiber structured cable distribution systems
Assist in the maintenance and support of battery backup strategies to ensure proper uptime and reliability for all networking equipment
Handle multiple projects with rapidly changing priorities and deadlines
Troubleshoot problems reported by users; Analyze and isolate issues; Consult with management and vendors to resolve issues in a timely manner
Document all work performed and keep accurate inventory records
Respond to after-hours emergencies as needed

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Knowledge of electronics, communication, security systems; fire alarm systems; card-access systems; sound systems; controls (DDC), scoreboards, intercom/p.a. systems; video-surveillance camera systems, telephone systems, fiber-optic equipment
Knowledge of methods, materials, and equipment used in the maintenance, repair and installations of the Audio-Visual / Communication trade
Knowledge of the operations, maintenance, and repair of communications equipment
Knowledge of Electrical / electronic theory, work vocabulary, and craft skills
Knowledge of Scripting language
Knowledge of network infrastructure and concepts
Skill in inspecting, operating, maintaining, and repairing communications equipment
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Excellent oral and written communication skills in preparing reports, presentations, and documentation? Excellent analytical and problems solving skills
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal & written)
Ability to verbally translate and articulate complex technical issues for the advocacy of non-technical users
Ability to work on multiple projects at the same time, work under pressure and independently complete assignments on schedule
Experience with change control and incident management

PHYSICAL & MENTAL DEMANDS:
Climbing, stooping, bending, and kneeling; frequent use of small hand tools and electronic test Equipment
Maintain emotional control under stress

Use computer for prolonged period resulting in repetitive hand motions
Frequent district wide travel
Occasional prolonged irregular hours
Lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally
May be required to be on call 24 hours a day
ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS:
Work is normally performed in both indoor and outdoor environments
Work involves frequent exposure to mechanical and electrical hazards
Work involves working in high, precarious places and in outside weather conditions with frequent exposure to wet and/or humid conditions
