Americas Special Situations Group (AmSSG) is a lending and investing business focused on providing capital to companies in both private and public markets. The group specializes in fundamental value analysis and has a number of private capital investment strategies which include middle market direct lending, investing in asset intensive industries, portfolios of assets, and distressed credit. Across strategies, the group focuses on leveraging its deep industry knowledge and fundamental credit, distressed, corporate, and asset valuation techniques to create attractive risk adjusted returns.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

SSG's Multi-Strategy Investing Group (MSI) invests across the capital structure in public companies (e.g. bank debt, bonds, or equity) and opportunistic private transactions. MSI invests in a wide variety of industries and operates with a value-oriented investing mindset.

MSI is currently looking for an analyst/associate to support its energy investing vertical. The analyst/associate will gain in-depth sector and industry knowledge, and will focus primarily on underwriting private debt transactions (first lien, second lien and single lien transactions) ranging from $20 to $200 million. The analyst/associate will also learn how the investment process works across various public investment strategies (equity & debt).

Basic Qualifications

  • Finance or Investment Banking experience (1-4 years of experience)

  • Superior valuation, modeling, and Excel skills

  • Energy experience (upstream / midstream preferred)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Highly motivated, entrepreneurial, and team-oriented candidates with strong accounting, finance, modeling, and problem solving skills

  • Strong combination of organizational and interpersonal/communication skills

  • Keen interest in the financial markets and good commercial instincts

RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS The Alternative Energy Investing Group is an investing group that sits within the Special Situations Group at Goldman Sachs. The group is responsible for deploying the firm's capital in the alternative energy space in sectors such as solar, wind, clean coal, energy storage, biofuels, and related industries globally. Investments include tax equity, debt, structured private equity, and project finance. The Alternative Energy Investing Group is looking for an analyst to join the desk in New York. The new member will be part of a team that invests and manages investments in the alternative energy space. Responsibilities will include: * Screening alternative energy investments * Research and quantitative modeling * Researching and evaluating new sectors and investment ideas * Communicating and presenting investment ideas * Managing due diligence processes * Assisting in portfolio management * P&L and risk reporting Preferred Qualifications.
