Job Summary

The Respiratory Therapy Program in the Waldron College of Health and Human Services at Radford University Carilion (RUC) invites applications for a nine-month, special purpose non-tenure track, Teaching and Research faculty position beginning August 2024.

This faculty position is part of a vibrant, growing department within an interprofessional health sciences learning site of Radford University. RUC is located in downtown Roanoke, Virginia in the city's Innovation Corridor.

RUC is devoted to offering a rigorous real-world learning experience to students pursuing undergraduate and graduate degrees in the health sciences. This position will have the ability to teach within both the online Degree Advancement and Traditional Respiratory Therapy tracks.

Respiratory Therapy faculty are responsible for educational aspects of assigned didactic, laboratory and clinical experiences for students enrolled in the program. This includes the organization and delivery of didactic courses, evaluation of classroom, laboratory and clinical skills, and the general effectiveness of the educational experiences. Faculty also advise students, be involved in college service, and participate in scholarship.

Physical Demands Required Qualifications

  • Applicants must have a degree in Respiratory Care, a earned baccalaureate degree, and be enrolled within a Masters Degree in Respiratory Care prior to the start of Fall 2024 term. Degrees must be from an institution accredited by a regional or national accrediting agency recognized by the U.S.

    Department of Education (USDE).

  • Applicants will hold a valid RRT credential and current Virginia state license, have a minimum of five (5) years' experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist with at least three (3) years in clinical respiratory care.

  • Applicants must be a AARC member and hold a AHA BLS certification.

  • Applicants must also agree to complete 18 graduate credits of coursework towards their Masters degree by Fall 2025 and graduate with the degree by Fall 2026.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Earned Masters Degree in Respiratory Care

  • Previous educational experience

  • AHA Instructor certification in BLS, ACLS, and PALS

  • CoBGRTE membership

  • History of exemplary scholarship, research, and publications

  • RRT-NPS, RRT-ACCS, RPFT, and/or polysomnography credentials

Education
