SUMMARY:

Performs as a Radiologic Technologist and a Special Procedures Technologist in collaboration with multidisciplinary team within Interventional & Imaging Services. Provide superior customer service by modeling the Brand Promise and Core Values.

STATUS: Full Time

LOCATION: Unity Hospital

DEPARTMENT: Cardiac Cath Lab and Radiology Lab

SCHEDULE: Days/Evenings (7AM - 5:30PM)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Performs as a Radiologic Technologist; prioritizes tasks and exams, confirms patient identification and examination, provides radiologist with pertinent information for interpretation, individualizes and provides effective explanations of exams to patients, correctly positions patients for standards examination views, performs special or additional views if required by adjusting routine for difficult or limited movement patients. Assesses film quality and determines need for repeat. Discusses exam with radiologist. Works with all assigned x-ray equipment and accessories.

  • Performs as a Special Procedures Technologist. Procedures include but not limited to: all angiography and digital acquisitions, cardiac catherizations, pacemaker insertions, IVC filters, stents, peripheral angioplasty, coronary angioplasty, insertion of dialysis catheters, PICC's, vertebroplasty, uterine artery embolization.

  • Employ ALARA principles and radiation safety based on New York State Bureau of Environmental Protection and Federal Radiation Standards.

  • Assists physicians in procedures requiring sterile technique. Assists physician/RN in immediate post-procedural care of the patient.

  • Assists in room set up and turnover including ordering and stocking of procedural supplies.

  • Able to monitor and manipulate PACS, RIS, HIS and all other Hospital Systems based on current Department standards. Completes documentation relevant to invasive procedures. Maintains records and technical notations of each case. Maintains daily procedural log books.

  • Appropriately utilize and maintain all fluoroscopic and accessory equipment including archive manager, CD burner, cardiac work stations, control area and physician viewing area, angio-jet, remote controls, and power injector.

  • Performs responsibilities in a self-directed and cooperative manner. Uses time constructively and organizes assignments for maximum productivity. Assumes oncall responsibilities as assigned.

  • Completes annual competencies and UHS mandatory annual requirements. Participates in all planned meetings, internal trainings/education and professional development sessions as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

A.A.S. in Radiologic Technology or completion of a Radiologic Technology hospital certificate program.

Two to three years experience as a Radiologic Technologist.

Must be computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office.


Required Licensure / Certification

Skills:

Current NYS license in Radiologic Technology.

ARRT and CE compliant.
