Position Overview
The Division of Family and Community Services is seeking to hire a Special Nutrition Programs Coordinator within the Bureau of Family Nutrition. This position plans, develops, directs, and executes duties including, but not limited to, providing program policy and technical guidance to local health and social service agencies administering special nutrition programs; monitoring for program compliance and quality assurance; budget preparation input and completion of routine and special administrative reports. This position requires the ability to travel, including overnight stays.
Job Responsibilities
Serves as Special Nutrition Programs Coordinator.
Serves as a working supervisor.
Manages and directs on-going monitoring, consultation, and review of local agencies administering BFN Special Nutrition Programs.
Develops, conducts, and evaluates special nutrition programs to be presented at conferences for health professionals or the public.
Performs administrative duties in the program areas which include budget preparation input, preparation or completion of routine and special administrative records and reports.
Participates in on-going monitoring and program review of nutrition service needs.
Proactively researches and pursues grant opportunities related to BFN Special Nutrition Programs and ensures grant project management and milestones are met.
Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college.
Requires prior experience equivalent to three (3) years of progressively responsible administrative experience in a health or human services organization.
Preferred Qualifications
Two (2) years of professional experience developing, monitoring, and interpreting program policies, requirements, and procedures for nutrition and health programs with an emphasis on food systems or the nutrition-related aspects of prevention.
Two (2) years of professional experience meeting deadlines with strong attention to detail and the ability to utilize critical thinking skills while multi-tasking multiple projects.
Two (2) years of professional supervisory experience assigning work, providing guidance to subordinates, recommending counseling and/or discipline following collective bargaining agreements, training staff, approving time off, and preparing and signing performance evaluations.
Two (2) years of professional experience communicating in oral and written form with internal and external stakeholders.
Two (2) years of professional experience in applying standard financial practices, following general accounting procedures, and issuing and managing grants and contracts.
Two (2) years of professional experience developing and maintaining cooperative working relationships such that federal, state, and local government agencies interact to effectively to meet program objectives.
Two (2) years of professional experience in creating, revising, and utilizing complex spreadsheets
Conditions of Employment
Requires ability to travel, including overnight stays.
Requires the ability to work outside of normal business hours
Requires advanced proficiency in office productivity software for word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and presentations.
