Transportation Coordinator of Special Education Routing

General Functions/Professional Responsibilities:

Serve as coordinator for the transportation of preschool students and for students with special needs, including training, route planning, documentation and daily coordination of special schedules and instructions. While completing these duties, good relationships should be maintained with the transportation department, corporation personnel and the community, as well as projecting a genuine care and concern for all students. This position requires consistent attendance and punctuality as well as the capability to handle confidential information.

Minimum Qualifications and Credentials Required:

1.Educational Requirements: A high school education or equivalent is required. Advanced training is preferred.

2.Experience: None is required, but transportation experience is preferred.

3.Skills and Knowledge: Essential to have understanding of students with special transportation needs from grades Preschool-12 as well as knowledge and experience working with a Global Positioning System (GPS.) Must possess excellent communication skills and strong organizational skills. In this position, there is a need for capacity to maintain efficient files and record keeping practices, while understanding and complying with all Avon Community School Corporation policies, guidelines, procedures and protocols.

4.Certification: Willing to obtain a Class B Commercial Driver's License with P&S Endorsement and an Indiana State School Bus Committee Standard Certificate (Yellow Card.) Must also have one year of experience as a bus driver.

Pay Rate: $21.80 - $25.55
