Job Description:

The ABC News Special Events team handles all breaking news and planned production of major news events. Breaking news events can include everything from politics to major weather disasters, mass shootings and terrorist attacks. Planned special reports have included royal weddings, presidential inaugurations and congressional hearings. This internship will provide you with a unique behind-the-scenes seat to the biggest breaking news stories and events in TV news.

Internship Eligibility:

  • Must possess unrestricted work authorization

  • Must be at least 18 years old

  • Must currently be enrolled in an accredited college or university and taking at least one class OR be a recent graduate of an accredited college or university within the last six (6) months

  • OR - be currently participating in the Disney College Program, Disney Culinary Program or Disney Professional Internship Program
  • Must be willing to relocate to the New York City area and provide your own housing and transportation for the duration of the internship

  • Must be able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the session

  • Must not have completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program

Program Dates:

  • Must be available from end of August to December

  • Must be willing to work a minimum of 20-24 hours/week

A day in the life

  • Daily tasks include printing and preparing copies and other editorial material needed for production.

  • Assist in the logistical planning of planned special reports as needed.

  • During special events programming, run copies and editorial material to executive and senior producers in the control room.

  • Help in the research and planning of the 2020 election coverage, most notably assisting during production of candidate debates in the fall.
