Special Event Specialist

EXPECTED HIRING RANGE: $57,535.00 - 70,481.00
WORK LOCATION: 53 Hunter Street, Apex, NC 27502
SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm, In the office. Occasional weeknights and weekend required.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
An employee in this position performs a wide variety of tasks working directly with the community members and Town staff to help coordinate, plan and execute Town-Sponsored and Community Events for the Town of Apex. This position will help the Special Event Manager in serving as liaisons between Community Event Organizer and Town staff.
This position reports to the Special Events Manager.
This position has no staff supervisory responsibilities.
A SAMPLE OF THE ESSENTIALS:
Provides direction, consultation, budget management and event creation for select Town-Sponsored and Community Events for the Town of Apex.
Secures events spaces, event supplies and other needed reservations for select Town-Sponsored and Community Events.
Attends, works and manages select Town-Sponsored and Community Events.
Helps create and update Special Events Policies for Town-Sponsored and Community Events.
Helps evaluate all aspects of Special Event Program to ensure effectiveness and to recommend and implement changes as appropriate.
Works with the Marketing and Programs coordinator to develop targeted marketing for Town-Sponsored Events.
Works with the Special Event Manager on event logistics such as vendor negotiations, site maps, and internal and external event communications.
Works with the Volunteer Coordinator to help determine volunteer event staffing needs.
Assists Volunteer Coordinator with the Apex Youth Council, when needed.
Serves as a contributing member of the Special Event Logistics Committee.
Performs related duties as required.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
Bachelor's degree and 1 year of experience in planning and event management; or a combination of equivalent education and experience.

Considerable knowledge of special event coordination.
Considerable knowledge of organizational and project management.
Experience interacting with a variety of large and small groups.
Excellent writing and presentation skills.
Ability to build and maintain partnerships.
Ability to organize, update and maintain records, data and documentation.
Knowledge of computers and related software.
