Reports to the Site Principal and to the Director of Special Education & Student Services. Special education Preschool teachers work with children and youth who have a variety of disabilities.

A Preschool teacher is a case manager for a group of identified exceptional children. By being a case manager, the Preschool teacher will accept new referrals, coordinate assessments with other specialists, schedule IEP meetings, adhere to the appropriate timelines related to the IEP process, coordinate individual students' programs and, as needed, develop and implement specialized instruction to Preschool students. They will collaborate with general education teachers about means of modifying student work and teaching methods for students with special needs children in their classrooms.

They will have a classroom where Preschool students come for specialized instruction and will provide push-in support in general education classes. The Preschool teacher will work in partnership with the YMCA Head Start Program by providing inclusion support. The current contract allows for 3/4 day per week for preparation time. Annual SPED stipend of $2500 in addition to salary.

• A valid California Special Education Credential • Autism Certification • Early Childhood Authorization or Early Childhood Special Education Authorization is required • CLAD / CTEL Certification • Two years or more relevant experience • Evidence that indicates course work in professional development related to Special Education and instructional methods in the grade levels being assigned • Fingerprint and tuberculosis clearances as required by law
