Special Education Teacher

Duties

Assessing students: Evaluating their skills and educational needs

Implementing and helping develop IEPs: Creating Individualized Education Programs for each student, setting learning goals, and modifying as needed

Teaching: Providing small group instruction, writing and delivering lesson plans, and teaching students in socially acceptable behavior and level-appropriate academics

Monitoring progress: Assessing student performance and tracking their progress

Updating IEPs: Reflecting students' progress and goals throughout the school year

Discussing progress: Sharing students' progress with parents, other teachers, counselors, and administrators

Other duties: Preparing reports, such as attendance records, student evaluations, credit, and grading systems

Maintaining records: Keeping records of all special needs students that adhere to local, state, and federal guidelines

Attend weekly clinical team meetings with the communication/cognition team.

Complete all necessary documentation in a thorough and timely manner.

Supervise and assist in the development and implementation of the curriculum.

Implement the policy and procedure of the classroom environment.

Attend all mandatory program/company training.

Establish and maintain a supportive working relationship within both the agency, school, and broader community service network.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Special Education, LBS1.

Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion.

A good listener with an ability to empathize while still providing guidance.
