Job Title: Special Education Teacher

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's and/or Masters Degree in the content area.

• Must hold current CT Teaching certification with K-12 Special Education Endorsement.

• Wilson Training preferred

Salary:

• Salary, work year and working conditions will be in accordance with the current contract language between the Board of Education and the Pomperaug Education Association. Salary range: $49,433 - $105,147

Period of Employment:

• Beginning with 2024/2025 School Year

Reports to:

• Director of Student Services, and Building Principal

Essential Functions:

• Develop and implement accurate and thorough individualized educational programs to meet the social, behavioral and emotional needs of the students assigned to the program.

• Provide students the consistent kind/firm structure and support they need in the classroom in order to be successful academically, socially and behaviorally.

• Work closely with the student's counselors, the school psychologist, school nurse and school administrators to provide students the help they need to learn how to overcome or cope with social/emotional and behavioral challenges.

• Use data to make effective instructional decisions.
