PENINSULA SCHOOL DISTRICT IS CURRENTLY DEVELOPING A POOL OF CANDIDATES FOR SECONDARY SPECIAL EDUCATION

The preferred candidates will have skills and experience working with secondary special education students who have mild to moderate disabilities. The ability to deliver explicit instruction in the area of social & emotional skills is required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Valid Washington State Certificate* with K-12 Special Education endorsement required.

  • Teachers with multiple certificate endorsements are preferred.

  • Teachers holding or pursuing National Board Certification preferred.

  • Expertise in reading strategies and instruction; reading in the content area.

  • Successful teaching or student teaching experience.

  • Knowledge of, and experience, teaching standards-based curriculum.

  • Strong classroom management skills.

  • Strong communication skills and flexibility.

  • Understanding of current state-adopted standards appropriated to the position growth.

  • RESUME: A resume highlights your education, relevant work experience, credentials, and accomplishments which you itemize to show you are qualified for our position.
  • LETTERS OF REFERENCE: A letter of reference, also known as a letter of recommendation, is a letter written on behalf of an applicant, by a previous supervisor, who can support and recommend the person's education and/or professional performance. We require two letters for our certificated applications.

Benefits

Benefits include paid sick leave and Washington State Retirement plan. This position is projected to meet the minimum hours worked of six hundred thirty hours of employment in a school year to qualify for SEBB benefits.
