School Site Principal Salary Grade: Certificated salary schedule based on units & experience Serves as a fully qualified teacher in a kindergarten through eighth grade setting, teaching skills and developing knowledge in multiple subjects using courses of study adopted by the Board of Education. Employs a range of instructional techniques and strategies to enhance student progress and establish a productive classroom environment.

Distinguishing Characteristics This is a fully qualified professional position where the teacher is trained to deliver critical components of K-8 education to children. Advancement to this position requires Teacher credentials plus the demonstrated ability either through coursework or experience, to deliver subject matter and learning style concepts that enhance student skill and knowledge development. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Develops long instructional plans and short range lesson plans that incorporate effective use of educational materials and instructional techniques and strategies.

Delivers education by using effective and appropriate oral communications skills and providing students with clear and professional written communications and instructions. Establishes standards expected for student achievement. Monitors and assesses progress toward expected standards.

Identifies student needs and cooperates and participates with other professional staff to assess student health, attitude, and learning challenges. Evaluates the level of achievement for each student by preparing periodic progress reports and conferring with parents. Develops and recommends education programs that best enable each student to achieve according to the school program.

Establishes and maintains a classroom environment that is conducive to learning. Engages with students by constructive interaction to optimize learning. Supervises student activities that are out of the classroom, such as but not limited to, assemblies, field trips, and extra-curricular events.

Implements the philosophies, goals, and policies of the District as adopted by the Board of Education. Complies with federal and state regulations applicable to the position. Complies with the contractual obligations governing employment.

Works and interacts with peers, as individuals and/or in team/group settings, in a professional manner that contributes to the District's academic achievement goals. Maintains professional competence by actively participating in in-service education provided by the District and participating in the evaluation, modification, and implementation of existing and new programs. Keeps abreast of new techniques and developments in K-8 education by maintaining contact with others in the education field (e.g., professional association and educational group members) and by reading outcome-based research materials.

Plans, coordinates, and evaluates the work of instructional assistants when assigned. Performs other duties as assigned that support the overall objective of the position. Qualifications: Knowledge and Skills:

The position requires specialized knowledge of K-8 education.

Requires a working knowledge of curriculum development. Requires sufficient human relations skills to deliver education.

Requires knowledge of development of and use of learning aids. Requires a working knowledge of development of and use of learning aids. Requires a working knowledge of personal computer and multimedia equipment operations including common office productivity software, internet, and computer-aided teaching programs.

Requires knowledge of pertinent education code provisions pertaining to the occupation. Requires well-developed oral communications skills to convey concepts in a classroom, lab, and community-based settings and work cooperatively with a diverse population of students and parents. Requires professional level writing skills sufficient to prepare class materials, reports, and written support to marketing/promotion efforts.

Abilities:

Requires the skill sets to perform the responsibilities of the position including delivery of instruction in classroom and lab settings. Requires the ability to learn, interpret, and apply District, State, and Federal requirements and objectives for academic achievement. Must be able to design and develop instructional objectives for curriculum and set up assignments, tests, and student projects.

Requires the ability to instruct students in the use of learning aids. Requires the ability to develop and maintain a productive classroom environment. Must be able to organize and prioritize work and mange time effectively.

Must be able to communicate in a professional manner, in both formal and informal settings with students, fellow teachers. staff and parents. Must be able to oversee the activities of instructional support staff. Physical Abilities:

Requires the ability to function effectively in classroom, laboratory, and outside environments, engaged in work of a moderately active nature. Requires sufficient physical ability to move to indoor and outdoor work locations and san for extended periods of time. Requires the ability to grasp, reach, push, and pull and move light weight teaching aids and supplies.

Requires sufficient arm, hand finger dexterity to use a personal computer keyboard, multimedia, and other office equipment. Requires sufficient hearing and speaking skills to project voice and communicate with staff and students in classroom settings and in one-on-one conversations. Requires visual acuity to read printed materials and computer screens, observe students perform assignments. and observe moving objects and events.. Education and Experience Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Education or equivalent discipline that enables job performance, and completed an approved student teaching program.

Licenses and Certificates Teaching credential appropriate for the grade level and/or subjects being taught. Multiple or single subject credential authorizing services to English Language Learners Work Environment Work is performed indoors and outdoor settings where some safety considerations exist from physical effort.
