Tenure Track, Full Time Position

As a High School Special Education Math Teacher, you will play a crucial role in facilitating the learning experience for students with diverse learning needs in the subject of mathematics. Your responsibilities will include creating and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs), adapting instructional materials and methods to meet the needs of students with disabilities, collaborating with other educators and support staff, and fostering a supportive and inclusive classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Individualized Education Plans (IEPs): Develop, implement, and regularly update IEPs for students with special needs in collaboration with parents, administrators, and other relevant stakeholders.

• Curriculum Development: Adapt and modify existing math curriculum to accommodate diverse learning styles, abilities, and individual needs of students with disabilities.

• Instructional Delivery: Employ a variety of instructional strategies, techniques, and technologies to effectively teach math concepts to students with special needs, ensuring understanding and mastery.

• Differentiated Instruction: Provide differentiated instruction and support to address the varied learning needs of students, including those with learning disabilities, developmental delays, or behavioral challenges.

• Assessment and Progress Monitoring: Regularly assess student progress in alignment with IEP goals and objectives, and adjust instruction and support as needed to ensure academic growth and success.

• Collaboration: Work collaboratively with general education teachers, special education staff, counselors, and other professionals to support the holistic development and academic success of students with disabilities.

• Behavior Management: Implement positive behavior management strategies and interventions to create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning.

• Parent and Community Engagement: Maintain open communication with parents/guardians regarding student progress, goals, and support needs, and actively involve them in the education process. Additionally, engage with community resources and organizations to provide additional support and opportunities for students with disabilities.

• Professional Development: Stay informed about best practices, research, and developments in the field of special education and mathematics instruction through ongoing professional development and training.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Mathematics Education, or a related field (Master's degree preferred)

• TOH or TOSD with HQT in Math

• Experience working with students with disabilities, particularly in a high school setting

• Knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices

• Strong understanding of mathematics curriculum and instructional strategies

• Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills

• Patience, empathy, and a passion for supporting students with diverse learning needs
