Comments and Other Information

Under the direction of the assigned supervisor, the Teacher, Special Education, Extensive Support Needs, serves as a member of the Individual Education Program (IEP) team to support the identification, intervention, and education of students with extensive support needs; provides an instructional program for students in classroom and community-based settings designed to offer students opportunities to participate more fully in home, school and community life; serves as the case manager for assigned students; and provides consultation and training to instructional staff and parents. With the support of Instructional Assistants, teachers provide comprehensive learning environments, including a highly structured behavior management system, while assisting the students with self-help, vocational, and academic skills as necessary. The teacher in this position will teach students from middle school age through age 22 with severe disabilities, medical issues and/or intensive behaviors.
