Duxbury High School is seeking a dynamic and highly qualified Special Education Teacher to lead the High School Transitions Program.

Requirements:

  • Current certification from Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education with SEI Endorsement, Special Education Students w/ Severe Disabilities (All)

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited college or university

  • Previous experience with IEP development and data collection

  • Citizenship, residency, or work visa required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with assistive technology and communication devices preferred

  • Experience with adult agencies (MRC, DDS), developing and implementing
    Transition Plans, life skills curriculum and pre-employment transition services

Primary Functions:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with general educators, related service professionals, and instructional assistants to provide specific interventions that enable students to successfully access the general education curriculum.

  • Consistently provide accommodations and appropriately modify curriculum per Individual Education Programs

  • Maintain consistent communication with parents, administration, and other team members.

  • Attend regularly scheduled meetings with the building principal, special education Team Chair and Director of Special Education.

  • Attend IEP meetings, develop IEP goals and benchmarks and provide progress reports for IEP goals concurrent with issuance of report cards.

  • Provide consultation to administration, general and special education teachers regarding students who have specific reading and written language disability.

  • Collaborate with related service providers
