Special Education Teacher - Autism Class 24-25

Oak Grove School District has a total student enrollment of approximately 8,800 students from grades TK-8. We have 18 school campuses along with a TK-8 Virtual Learning Academy (VLA). Six out of eighteen schools receive Title I funds.

The size of the schools range from approximately 730 students to 270 students. The percentage of English Learners is 29% representing 56 languages spoken in the District. Oak Grove School District's focus is driven by the LCAP (Local Control Accountability Plan) and school site-specific SPSA (Single Plan for Student Achievement) which identifies short, intermediate, and long-term goals.

First and foremost in all activities is the safety of students as well as student success in the areas of math and reading/language arts interwoven with science, social studies and visual and performing arts. Student performance goals have been integrated into the state and federal accountability systems. Annually, the LCAP and SPSA's are updated with our students, staff and various community groups in keeping with our core values, the vision, and the annual goals.

Special Education Teachers (SDC) promote and develop successful learning for students who are eligible for IDEA services. The Special Education Teacher (SDC) effectively supports the education of students who have been identified and qualify for services under the Mild/Moderate or Moderate/Severe disability designations.

Teachers assess students' functioning to customize an Individualized Education Plan (IEP). They creatively design and assign activities that modify general curriculum to suit every pupil's needs. They maintain regular communication with their students, their parents, and appropriate staff members and are responsible for development, implementation, and revision of their student's IEP. Patience, compassion, positivity, and empathy are core values teachers must have to work with children with exceptional needs. This job reports to the Site Administrator and the Director of Special Education.
