Special Education Teacher

Position Title: Special Education Teacher (Short Term Substitute)

Location: Plymouth River Elementary School

Anticipated Start Date: October 22, 2024 - February 14, 2025 (exact dates may vary)

Terms of Employment: This is a short term substitute teaching assignment for special education for our grades 4 and 5.

Job Description: This Special Education Teacher provides an appropriate educational program for elementary school students receiving educational services via an Individualized Education Program. This teacher may act as a case manager/liaison for a group of students, co-teach in a general education classroom, teach Reading, Writing, and/or Math in a self-contained environment and Executive Functioning Skills overall, while supporting student acquisition of skills related to IEP goals. This teacher is expected to maintain open communication with parents, general education teachers, administration, counselors, other specialists, as well as contribute to the regular functioning of the grade level team and the school as well as the special education department.

Responsibilities:

• Teach students specific skills and strategies to help them access and make progress in curriculum
• Conduct IEP meetings and complete all related paperwork in a timely fashion
• Monitor student progress; revise IEP accordingly
• Co-teach with regular education teachers and other specialists if necessary
• Communication with all relevant school personnel
• Consistent and on-time attendance
• Responsible for implementing other job-related duties as needed

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree or higher
• Requisite licensure as defined by DESE
• Experience implementing all parts of the IEP process
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to use technology effectively
• Ability to handle a multitude of varying and complex issues
