Qualifications:

NJ Teacher of the Handicapped Certification

OR NJ Teacher of Students with Disabilities AND NJ Middle School with Subject Matter Specialization: Mathematics Grades 5-8 Certification

OR NJ Teacher of Students with Disabilities AND NJ Middle School with Subject Matter Specialization: English Language Arts/Literacy Grades 5-8 Certification Certification

Strong classroom management skills and experience with positive behavior interventions

Strong organizational, communication, and collaborative skills

In-depth knowledge of and experience with the NJ Student Learning Standards

Ability to implement IEP, monitor goals, track progress, and write new goals

Extra duties as assigned by the building Principal and Supervisor of Pupil Services

All alternate route candidates ("Certificate of Eligibility) must show completion of 50 hours of pre-service training through a DOE approved CE educator program prior to being interviewed for a position. The certificate of completion must be uploaded into the AppliTrack portal in order for alternate route candidates to be considered. It explicitly prohibits such employers from hiring a person serving in a position which involves regular contact with students unless the employer conducts a review of the employment history of the applicant by contacting former and current employers and requesting information regarding child abuse and sexual misconduct allegations.
