Special Education Teacher

• 0.6 FTE

Qualifications:

• State of Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with an LBS 1 endorsement.

• Experience working with students with behavioral and emotional disabilities.

• Ability to speak Polish and/or Spanish is preferred.

• Strong understanding/knowledge of strategies and techniques related to executive functioning, differentiation of instruction, modifying curriculum, developing and teaching a foundational curriculum.

• Strong classroom behavior management skills.

• Strong and effective case management skills, including writing IEPS and implementation of behavior intervention plans.

• Requires strong organizational and communication skills.

• Skilled at planning and utilizing the support of Instructional Support personnel.

• Demonstrated skills in modifying lessons and activities of the general education curriculum to meet the educational needs of students with multiple disabilities.

• Experience with students diagnosed with ED, LD, OHI and Autism.

• Knowledge about technology to increase, maintain, or improve the functional capabilities of a student with disabilities.

• Develop instructional programming that could meet a wide range of student abilities and educational needs.

• Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.

• ELL endorsement preferred.
