Special Education Teacher
Qualifications:
State of Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with an LBS 1 endorsement.
Experience working with students with behavioral and emotional disabilities.
Ability to speak Polish and/or Spanish is preferred.
Strong understanding/knowledge of strategies and techniques related to executive functioning, differentiation of instruction, modifying curriculum, developing and teaching a foundational curriculum.
Strong classroom behavior management skills.
Strong and effective case management skills, including writing IEPS and implementation of behavior intervention plans.
Requires strong organizational and communication skills.
Skilled at planning and utilizing the support of Instructional Support personnel.
Demonstrated skills in modifying lessons and activities of the general education curriculum to meet the educational needs of students with multiple disabilities.
Experience with students diagnosed with ED, LD, OHI and Autism.
Knowledge about technology to increase, maintain, or improve the functional capabilities of a student with disabilities.
Develop instructional programming that could meet a wide range of student abilities and educational needs.
Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
ELL endorsement preferred.
