Special Education Support/504 Coordinator
Position Purpose
Schedule IEP meetings for teams, file, organize special education folders, and keep track of Case Manager schedules. Facilitate, coordinate, and approve the development of 504 plans.
Provides advice and counsel for teachers and principals on matters about the development of a 504 plan and informs such school personnel who are responsible for carrying out the adaptions and modifications as written in the 504 plan. Monitors the overall effectiveness of student plans and ensures all are implemented within federal, state, and local regulations.
Essential Job Functions
Schedule IEP meetings for teams
File and organize special education folders
Keep track of Case Manager schedules
Maintains records and documentation for all students eligible under Section 504.
Ensure the implementation of Section 504 procedures, including:
Coordinating referrals
Determining appropriate Section 504 team composition and participating on the team.
Facilitate Section 504 evaluations and development of 504 plans.
Providing notices and documenting parental consent
Distributing 504 plans to appropriate staff
Monitoring the implementation of 504 plans
Schedule periodic re-evaluations of all students eligible under Section 504 at least every 3 years.
Serve as a resource to administrators, teachers, and staff regarding Section 504.
Attend periodic Section 504 trainings as needed to stay informed about current district requirements to comply with Section 504
Assists with record-keeping procedures to document student learning and performance.
Follows all applicable safety rules, procedures and regulations governing the proper manner of assistance for all students, including those with disabilities or other special needs.
Maintain an accurate curriculum and computer inventory
Additional Duties:
Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Administrator and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

Equipment
Use standard office equipment, such as personal computers and copiers.
Travel Requirements
Travels to the regional student center to work in the office daily, monthly staff meetings, twice annually to all staff meetings somewhere in Oregon, for a 3 day period one time for new staff training, and local student center for professional meetings as required.

Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff, and others contacted in the course of work.
Ability to report work orally or in writing to supervisor as required.

Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards
The SPED Support/504 Coordinator primarily works from the Baker Charter Schools office in Baker City. The work environment is often controlled and quiet, but will also frequently include moderate to loud noise.
The work environment may include exposure to unpleasant interior temperatures, dirt, communicable diseases, and distraught or difficult individuals. The work requires regular focus on a computer screen and precise control of fingers and hand movements. Bending, stooping, kneeling and lifting up to 20 pounds and may also be required on occasion.

Qualifications Profile
1.Must possess a valid driver's license, running vehicle, and appropriate automobile insurance
2.Must possess job-related experience providing the applicant with the desired skills, knowledge, and ability to perform the job.
3.Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
Education
High School diploma or equivalent.
Successful completion of college-level coursework preferred
Experience
Prior experience working with children in an educational setting preferred
