RESPONSIBILITIES: Plan, prepare and deliver culturally responsive and relevant lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning and engagement

Conduct ongoing assessment of student learning and progress, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student's needs

Communicate with the Instructional Support Team and parents regarding student progress and areas for growth

Utilize relevant technology and instructional materials to support and differentiate instruction

Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with colleagues

Encourage family involvement in each student's education, and ensure effective communication with students and families

Promote a classroom environment that is safe, welcoming, and affirming for all students Work in a collaborative teaching environment, including co-teaching and interdisciplinary planning

Communicate effectively orally and in writing

Meet professional teacher education requirements of school, district and state POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: Strong understanding of positive behavior reinforcement systems and task analysis

Knowledge of high leverage special education practices

Experience with IEP development - writing goals, progress monitoring and identification of modifications/accommodationsIn depth knowledge of social emotional learning approaches and experience in implementing SEL to cultivate a classroom that is affirming and welcoming

Thorough knowledge of the NYS Learning StandardsKnowledge of the RTI process and ability to effectively communicate with the Instructional Support Team and parents regarding student progress and areas for growth

Demonstrated knowledge of NYS Culturally Responsive-Sustaining Frameworks Ability to analyze data to improve instructional practice and student learning outcomes

Ability to engage in self-reflection with regard to performance and professional growth; actively seeks professional learning opportunities

Possession of appropriate New York State Teacher Certification(s) - Special Education & a ScienceDual Certification in a Science required

High School experience is preferred, but not required REPORTS TO: Building Principal Ethnically, culturally, and linguistically diverse candidates are welcome and encouraged to apply.
