Position Title: Special Education Preschool Paraprofessional

Terms of Employment: 180 Days / 35 hours per week

Essential Job Duties - Special Education Preschool Paraprofessional

● Relate well with children and parents, treating all children, parents, and staff with dignity and respect

● Assist teacher in any way possible

● Assist in maintaining a positive learning environment in the classroom

● Maintain confidentiality at all times

● Assist students getting off and on the bus, moving throughout the building, and with daily procedures and activities upon arrival and dismissal from the classroom.

● Assist students with the following activities as needed, based on levels of independence: toileting, hand washing, academic beginning concepts, crafts, free choice activities, and learning centers.

● Follow established procedures of classroom management and/or specific behavior intervention plans

● Works under the direction of the Special Education Preschool Teacher to assist with classroom organizational needs

● Works actively with the preschool team (Director of Early Childhood, teacher, paraprofessionals, Speech Language Pathologist and Speech Language Assistant).

● Meets all aspects of the Classified Employee Handbook

● Performs all other duties and responsibilities as required

● Complete any and all requirements pertaining to Paths to Quality accreditation

Physical Factors

(Occasionally = 0-2.5 hrs./day; Frequently = 2.5-5.5 hrs./day; Constantly = 5.5+ hrs./day)

● Sitting/standing - constantly

● Stooping/kneeling/crouching - constantly

● Hearing and speaking clearly - constantly

● Lifting (up to 50lbs.) - occasionally
