Special Education Paraprofessional

Position: K-12 Special Education Paraprofessional

Location: 24/25 Placement- Rogers Early Elementary School

Role and Responsibilities

• Work with students individually and in small groups.

• Supervise students before and after class/lunch.

• Keep students on task during instruction activities, maintaining consistency throughout the day.

• Assist teachers in implementing Individual Education Plan (IEP) goals and behavior plans such as: self-help skills, socialization, language development, toilet and hygiene training, and behavior management.

• Collaborate with the IEP team and use best practice interventions to assist students.

• Assist teacher in preparation and maintenance of classroom materials.

• Accompany students during time in the hallway and on the playground.

• Interact with students on an ongoing and consistent basis.

• Maintain confidentiality.

• Keep records and data as required by the program.

• Perform other duties as requested by the building administrator or designee.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

Minimum of two years (60 credit hours) or Associate's degree from an accredited collegiate institution.

OR Pass a state approved paraprofessional assessment

OR Other requirements as required by the Melvindale-Northern Allen Park Public School District

Experience working with special education students is preferred.

Work Schedule and Rate of Pay

7.25 hours/day, 40 weeks/year (follow student schedule)

Pay according to Collective Bargaining Agreement

Starting hourly rate $15.45
