SPECIAL EDUCATION PARAEDUCATORS

(2 POSITIONS; 25 HOURS and 27.5 HOURS)

Qualifications:

• Ability to work with students who require special education support with academic, behavioral, social, and physical needs

• Ability to support consistent application of individual plans to help ensure students receiving special education support make progress on goals and objectives

• Ability to effectively communicate and build relationships with students, families, and staff members

• Ability to work independently

• Willingness and commitment to equity, social justice, and inclusion in all practices

• Ability to learn and adapt to students' special physical, communicative and emotional needs

• Familiarity with or willingness to be trained in toileting procedures

• Excellent attendance record

• Ability to consistently maintain confidentiality

• Ability to take accurate data daily to document progress on academic and behavioral goals

• High school diploma (with college-level coursework in education preferred)

• Knowledge of elementary-level curriculum preferred

• Ability to implement academic and behavioral supports under the direction of the special education teacher

• Ability to discreetly support student independence in a variety of settings (classroom, hallway, lunchroom, playground, bathroom)

• Willingness to perform other duties as assigned by the principal, which may include recess duty

• CPI (Nonviolent Crisis Intervention) certified or ability to be certified

• CPR certified or ability to be certified

Hours: Monday

• Friday; 25 and 27.5 hours per week respectively

Location: Breton Downs Elementary and Lakeside Elementary

Rate: Support Staff Contract, Paraeducator Classification, Category II
