Position Overview
The Weston Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Office Aide for Weston Middle School. This is a part-time position (27.5 hours/week), when school is in session (180-184 days), reporting to the MIddle School Principal, and the Director of Student Services. About the Weston Public Schools
The Weston Public Schools enrolls approximately 2,000 students in pre-kindergarten through grade 12. The school district includes a high school for grades 9-12, a middle school for grades 6-8, an upper elementary school for grades 4-5, and two lower elementary schools for pre-kindergarten through grade 3. Since 1967, Weston has participated in METCO (Metropolitan Council for Educational Opportunity) - a voluntary school integration program that places Boston residents in suburban schools. The Weston METCO program enrolls approximately 160 students (K-12).
Key Responsibilities
Embrace the diversity of the Weston Public Schools by fostering an environment of respect and inclusion
Provide ongoing administrative support to Elementary Special Education Team Chairs
Maintain the Individualized Education Plan (IEP) database
Ensure the accuracy of information through proofreading and correcting IEP records
Process special education paperwork, including coordination and delivery of IEPs to parents
Ensure the timely return of IEP signature pages
Monitor the due dates of evaluations and meetings for Team Chairs
Provide data relevant to Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education reporting codes for special education services and placements
Provide timely student information and data, including evaluations, meeting dates, and signature dates to Team Members
Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Student Services or her designee
Desired Qualifications
High School Diploma required, Associate's Degree or higher preferred
Competent with technology, including Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and Zoom
Competent with spreadsheets, databases, forms, slide presentations, and student information systems
Strong work ethic and an eagerness to improve
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
Calm demeanor and ability to maintain confidentiality
Clear communicator, both orally and in writing
Knowledge of special education practices and procedures
Strong organization skills

A Special Education Office Aide will earn between $19.72 - $21.07 per hour. Additionally, the Weston Public Schools offers a comprehensive benefits package, including subsidized health insurance and participation in the Middlesex County Retirement System.
