Shepherd High School has an opening for a Special Education Teacher for  the 2024-2025 school year.

Job Description:

The High School Special Education Position is one that generally covers grades 9-12. The priority for this position is to make sure that the needs of Special Education students are being met and that all paperwork is complete in an appropriate, effective, and efficient manner to meet all State and Federal requirements. Some classes that have been utilized include Basic Math, Practical Math, Basic English, and Learning Strategies. Being able to get students to analyze and think critically to the best of their ability is of the utmost importance within each class. Various grade levels may be taught within each class, depending upon the needs of the students. The expectation is to work collaboratively in a PLC environment. Maintain a professional demeanor with all students, staff, parents, and community. Continue to grow professionally. Maintain strong classroom management. Participate within the mentoring program that is offered. Be an advocate for ALL kids.

Job Requirements:

Possess or qualify for immediate issuance of a valid State of Montana teaching certificate with a special education endorsement. Knowledge of current curriculum and instructional practices such as teacher-directed instruction, literature-based reading, math problem-solving and use of math manipulatives, cooperative learning, and integrated curriculum. Ability and skills necessary to individualize instruction.

  • Development and implementation of required Special Education Services and paperwork.

  • Including, but not limited to Referrals for Special Education, Individualized Education Plans,

Evaluation Reports, Positive Behavior Plans, Functional Based Assessments, Classroom Assessments, Classroom Observations, Academic Assessments, School–wide and IEP Progress Monitoring.

  • Development and implementation of instruction (curriculum, lessons, and modified curriculum)

that meets the individual needs of each student using a variety of provided programs.

  • Creates, monitors, and implements behavioral management plans.

  • Maintains necessary parent communications. Including, but not limited to parent meetings,conferences, and behavior.

  • Monitors student school-wide and IEP progress with individual student documentation.

  • Collaborates with general education teachers, special education staff, and school staff to develop, facilitate, and provide appropriate accommodations, documentation, and learning for individual students.

  • Required to attend MANDT training, professional training, and continuing education to ensure your licensure and certification that is required by the school district.

  • Prepares for State progress monitoring and reporting.

  • Maintains educational records and confidentiality at all times.

Shepherd Schools contributes $780 per month towards our medical, dental and vision plans. We also offer supplimental insurance.
