Big Country Educational Cooperative in Miles City has a potential opening for a Full-time Itinerant Special Education Teacher/Consultant for 2024-2025 school year.
Job function: Provide case management, supervision of paraprofessionals, assessment, and direct services to students in special education attending Cooperative member school districts that utilize our itinerant resource teacher/consultant.
Qualifications: A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in special education or sufficient special education coursework to qualify for a special education endorsement, is preferred. Must be certified to teach in the State of Montana.
Big Country Educational Cooperative is a full-service special educational cooperative in Southeastern Montana serving 18-member schools in Garfield, Custer, Rosebud, Fallon, and Carter Counties.
BCEC full-time regular staff work four ten-hour days weekly over a 150-day annual contract, including five PIR days. The BCEC provides contributions to the Teachers Retirement System (TRS), paid personal and sick leave, paid holidays, and summers off.
A single health insurance plan is provided with an annual dental exam and an annual vision exam. Travel is a necessary component of the position; thus, an unrestricted driver’s license and the ability to qualify for the cooperative’s fleet insurance are required. Salary is DOE as per BCEC Salary Matrix.
The itinerant resource teacher / consultant assumes the responsibility of the delivery of direct and indirect instructional services; Child Find duties: referral, identification, and evaluation of students with suspected disabilities; implementation of the Individualized Education Program and related case manager duties for each student identified for services aged three through twenty-one years.
