Special Education Teacher - BHS/GHS (1.0 FTE)
2024-25 Salary Range: $46,813-$68,815; or current placement on salary schedule. Benefits available.
Description: The Special Education Teacher is responsible for planning instruction aligned with IEP goals to enable students to learn foundational content that will allow them to accelerate growth in the areas of their disability in order to access grade level standards. The teacher will case manage the identified students' programs which includes developing individual education plans, behavior plans, providing instruction on social skills and study skills. The teacher is responsible for communicating with general ed teachers with regard to student accommodations and modifications and must be able to report to and participate on multidisciplinary evaluation teams.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties may be assigned):
Design individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities.
Instruct students with disabilities according to IEP goals.
Work as a part of team to design and implement behavioral programs.
Teach in the learning lab on targeted IEP goals in reading/written expression/math/social/emotional/behavioral and self-help/independence.
?Consult with regular education teachers to facilitate their work in granting IEP accommodations or in problem solving ways to meet social/emotional/behavioral and self-help/independence goals in the classroom.
Administer standardized achievement tests.
Function as member of evaluation teams, writing evaluation reports/summaries.
Keep parents and students informed and aware of student needs and progress.
Provide direct consultation and instruction in the general education setting, supporting academic and non-academic IEP goals, as defined through teacher collaboration and IEP teams
Qualifications: Montana teaching certificate with Special Education endorsement (32S SPE or 32A SPE) or ability to be certified by the start of the 2024-2025 school year. Prior experience as a special education teacher working with students with disabilities preferred
