Special Education Teacher - 1.0 FTE
Salary Range: $46,813-$68,815 or appropriate placement on Certified Salary Schedule. Benefits Available.
Description: The Special Education Teacher is responsible for planning instruction and/or making adaptations to the general curriculum to enable students to benefit from their education. The teacher will case manage the identified students' programs, which includes developing individual education plans, behavior plans, providing instruction on social skills and study skills. The teacher is responsible for communicating with general ed teachers in regard to student accommodations and modifications and be must be able to report to and participate on multidisciplinary evaluation teams.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties may be assigned):
Design individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities, including the development of IEP objectives.
Instruct students with a range of disability areas according to IEP objectives.
Consult regularly with classroom teachers.
Administer standardized achievement tests.
Administer informal progress monitoring measures.
Evaluate student gain, utilizing formal and informal measures.
Function as member of evaluation teams.
Involve support staff appropriately.
Keep parents informed and aware of student needs and progress.
Assess student achievement and write educational reports.
Implement specialized programs of instruction.
Design and implement behavioral programs.
Qualifications: Montana teaching certificate with Special Ed endorsement, or ability to be certified by the start of the 2024-25 school year. Training or endorsements in Reading, Math and behavior are highly desirable.
