The Yvonne B. Miller School at the Bon Air Juvenile Correctional Center is seeking a highly qualified Special Education Instructor to provide individual and group instruction to incarcerated youth assigned to classes.
The successful candidate will demonstrate an accurate knowledge of the subject matter; promote an understanding of the intellectual, social, emotional and physical development of the age group; organize and present instructional materials to students of various educational levels; use student learning data to guide planning; engage and maintain students in active learning and reinforce learning goals consistently throughout lessons. Prepares lesson plans; organize teaching materials; develops tests and worksheets; and carries out instruction in subject area according to course curriculum. The incumbent will be required to communicate effectively with current teaching techniques in the development of learning objectives.
Requires a Bachelor's Degree; must possess a Teaching License with one or more endorsements in Special Education; experience organizing and presenting educational materials to students of various educational levels; and experience teaching students with disabilities.
Experience teaching at-risk youth is preferred.

The selected candidate must possess a valid driver's license. Incumbent must complete all mandatory agency and state training requirements to include but not limited to safety, technology, cyber security and teacher licensure (when applicable).
