Special education due process education assistant

Class 3D ($17.23 to $18.37 per hour plus benefits) based on the current salary schedule for education assistants

Seven hours per day, which includes 6.5 hours of paid work time and 30 minutes of unpaid lunch
177 days per school year

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the electronic building special education calendar.

  • Develop and maintain the Excel special education master caseload spreadsheet.

  • Utilize the spreadsheet to regularly inform IEP managers of current status of caseload (time lines).

  • Maintain special education files

  • Monitor file contents for appropriate content. Ensure inclusion of all due process documents. Maintain documents in chronological order.

  • Monitor checkout procedures; maintain log of access.

  • Prepare files for transition/matriculation to another program or building within the district.

  • Send inactive files to district special education office and create pdf documents to send as necessary.

  • Document information in the contact log.

  • Assist building staff in acquiring school records for students new to the district, including current IEP; notice of district's proposed action or denial (for IEP); most recent evaluation report and most recent progress report.

  • Disseminate due process correspondence and paperwork following district's Pupil Data Privacy regulations and procedures.

  • Utilize a spreadsheet to monitor health-related IEP service for third party billing.

  • Assist special education office to track and monitor permission forms.

  • Notify staff to begin logging services.

  • Collect necessary documentation monthly (completed and signed service logs, time samples for PCA, PCA service sheets and transportation forms) for billing.

  • Forward completed documentation to special education office for processing.

  • Participate in scheduled due process education assistant meetings and inservice training.

  • Create electronic student file in Infinite Campus for students new to the district.

  • Monitor student enrollment record for accuracy and complete verification tasks throughout the year.

  • Collaborate with district support staff (due process facilitator, coordinator, assistant director) to ensure due process is complete.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by team or supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • Able to attend work regularly and report to work in a timely manner.

  • Perform tasks and work with a variety of personnel from various disciplines including the business sector.

  • Experience working with persons with disabilities and/or other human service experience.

  • Able to communicate effectively within a team.

VIEW JOBS 11/13/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-02-11T00:00 AVAILABLE POSITION Fulltime early childhood special education teacher for students ages birth to three New Hope Learning Center 189-day stretch calendar RESPONSIBILITIES * Monitor the educational programming for students and families based on the students' IEPs. * Manage daily schedule including scheduling and attending meetings with families, managing due process paperwork and professional meetings in the building. * Report to the Special Education Supervisor/Director. * Support and guide families and children in 1:1 home visits. * Record notes at each consultation meeting with families to provide recommendations in follow-up meetings. * Jointly plan with families to determine priorities and plan for sessions based off of the plan. * Collaborate and consult with other professionals to gain new knowledge to support families with the primary service provider model. * Plan and embed routines into the daily lives of students and families. * Provide coaching to families which support their students with a disabilities. * Provide follow-up written plans to families and review goals weekly. * Provide individualized educational programs for students based upon needs identified by the diagnosis or determined needs through comprehensive evaluations. * Complete all due process paperwork on time as determined by Minnesota Statute. * Complete assigned tasks accurately and on time. * Be focused and concise when working and supporting families in their homes with their children who have significant medical needs. * Be a student and family advocate to ensure alignment to the goals of the district and the ECSE program. (Family Guided Routine Based Instruction/TS Gold/Pyramid Model) * Work in collaboration with colleagues and outside agencies. * Implement best practices and evidence-based strategies. * Attend weekly meetings. * Other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS * Current Minnesota teaching license in early childhood special education. * Knowledge and experience in the area of early childhood special education. * Ability to provide academic, social, adaptive and inclusive programming and support. * Experience in working with preschool children, particularly those having emotional and behavioral difficulties. * Able to attend work regularly and report to work in a timely manner. WORK ENVIRONMENT A teacher in this position will work with families in their homes and childcare placements, as well as in an educational setting. The teacher will come in direct contact with parents, caregivers, students, district staff, outside agencies, the public, pets and physical objects that may require a quick response or moving and lifting.
