Qualifications: 1.Appropriately licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education as a special education teacher and special education administrator. 2.Minimum of 4 years teaching experience 3.Master's degree in special education or education administration 4.Experience in curriculum development and curriculum modifications 5.Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing 6.Commitment to remain current in content knowledge and state and federal regulations 7.Sheltered English Immersion endorsed. 8.Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and in conformity with state licensure requirements 9.Successful completion of a Criminal Record Check (C.O.R.I.) and fingerprint check Performance Responsibilities: •Coordinate the special education process for assigned schools in accordance with state and federal statutory and regulatory requirements. •Work in collaboration with principals, assistant principals, and Secondary Special Education Administrator in regards to assignment and supervision of special education teachers and paraprofessionals. •Coordinate with principals to develop and maintain a continuum of special education programming. •Communicate with parents regarding questions and concerns about individual students' programming. •Provide curriculum leadership. Review, evaluate, and recommend scientifically, research based intervention and remediation curriculum in the areas of reading, mathematics, executive functioning skills and life skills. •Conducts meetings of various members of the professional staff which are deemed necessary for the purpose of carrying out the assigned responsibilities. •Oversee the student assessment process including initial evaluations, three-year reevaluations, and independent evaluations.

Meet with parents to explain the process. Insure that evaluation instruments are current and that they assess all suspected/known areas of disability. •Chair eligibility team meetings. •Write IEPs and N1 (required summaries) for all eligibility meetings. •Supervises and evaluates teacher performance as needed. •Serve as a presenter for professional development topics related to special education. •Assist with grant writing and management of grant funds. •Assist with the completion of state and federal reporting (i.e., communicate with private schools, complete specified reports, administer needs assessments). •Performs such related assignments as delegated by the Assistant Superintendent for Pupil Personnel Services, and/or their administrative designee. Assessment and Interpretation Identifies and assesses the learning, development, and adjustment characteristics and needs of individuals and groups, as well as, the environmental factors that affect learning and adjustment.

Uses assessment data about the student and his/her environment(s) in developing appropriate interventions and programs. Direct Interventions for Students Provides individual, small group, and classroom interventions to students that support access to the curriculum and school environment. Consultation and Training Provides consultation to parents, teachers, other school personnel, and community agencies to enhance the learning and adjustment of students.

Professional Practice and Development Applies ethics and standards of professional practice in the delivery of school psychological services and observes relevant laws and policies that govern practice. Participates in professional organizations and continually seeks to improve professional knowledge and skill Communication and Relationship Skills Communicates effectively with students, parents, and school staff.
