The Special Education Coordinator is a professional who assumes responsibility for the direction, coordination, and supervision of the special education and other related programs. The Special Education Coordinator is also responsible for specific processes in the assigned building and/or district level from child find, screening, progress monitoring, identification, plan development, and placement to ensure: (1) appropriate identification and placement of students with or without disabilities, and (2) district compliance with state and federal requirements for the implementation of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), American with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 504 and the Individual with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), as well as other duties as assigned.

VIEW JOBS 5/23/2020 12:00:00 AM 2020-08-21T00:00 Academic Coordinator of Clinical Education (PTA Program) Position Details Job Code: 1221 Department: Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) Division: Health Professions Reports to: Dean of Health Professions Positions Supervised: Student workers Location: Any KCKCC location Job Purpose The Academic Coordinator of Clinical Education (ACCE) for the PTA program is responsible to the Dean of Health Professions for management of the clinical education component of the PTA program. Additionally, this position will provide high quality, learner-centered instruction for assigned classes and assist the program coordinator with completion of tasks related to accreditation and student success. Position Description Academic Coordinator of Clinical Education * Schedule clinical placement of all students per departmental policy * Initiate and maintain all clinical education agreements * Develop new clinical education sites * Perform clinical site visits and mentor students and clinical instructors in the clinical education setting * Update and maintain clinical education handbooks * Review and revise clinical education evaluation tools and provide instruction on the use of such tools to clinical facilities and instructors * Maintain student records related to clinical education * Plan and supervise professional development opportunities for clinical instructors * Evaluate effectiveness of the clinical education component of the PTA program in alignment with requirements of KCKCC and the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) * Coordinate and chair the Advisory Board, including selection of members and planning for meetings * Coordinate and supervise the selection and recruitment of students to the program * Engage in activities to promote the program, including management of PTA social media accounts and participation in career fairs and high school visits. * Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean of Health Professions and/or PTA Program Coordinator Instructional * Prepare course syllabi addressing targeted student abilities, specific competencies, textbook requirements, grading/assessment methodology, course scheduling, and/or other items as required * Provide regular, timely reports to students of academic performance * Demonstrate commitment to the program, division, and total institution by timely attendance and submission of required grade, attendance, assessment, and other miscellaneous reports to the administration * Enforce all rules and regulations that govern safe and ethical student practices in the PTA program at KCKCC * Assist program faculty in lab courses to maintain an appropriate student-to-faculty ratio Coordination of PTA Program labs * Complete a monthly check of all laboratory equipment to determine the presence of any safety issues * Schedule formal safety checks at least every 12 months and equipment repair visits as needed * Schedule and maintain open laboratory hours in accordance with accreditation guidelines * Follow required safety procedures including, but not limited to, electrical equipment safety, PPE, and soiled linens * Maintain inventory of appropriate laboratory equipment and supplies Position Qualifications and/or Education Minimum Qualifications and/or Education * Bachelor's degree or higher * Current or eligible for credentialing to practice as a Physical Therapist (PT) or Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) in Kansas * Minimum of three (3) years or full-time (or equivalent) post-licensure clinical practice * Minimum of two (2) years of clinical practice as a CCCE and/or CI OR * Two (2) years of experience in teaching, curriculum development and administration in a PT or PTA program Preferred Qualifications and/or Education * Master's degree or higher * Physical Therapist (PT) * Experience teaching in a PT or PTA program * Experience as an ACCE in a PT or PTA program Physical Requirements While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, talk, hear, walk, sit, and occasionally push or lift items.
