Regional School Unit No. 5 seeks to immediately fill a vacancy for a Instructional Strategist. The ideal candidate will possess and demonstrate knowledge of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), general education intervention procedures, Child Find, special education program eligibility and triennial reevaluation criteria, special education service delivery, and program placement options and procedures.

The Instructional Strategist will: work collaboratively with district and school staff to ensure the implementation of board of education policy, federal regulatory guidelines, and compliance with the Maine Unified Special Education Regulations (MUSER) to ensure the provision of a Free and Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) for students with disabilities; collaborate with administrators, special educators, regular educators, support staff, service providers, and administrators to ensure legally compliant special education service delivery, program placement and procedures; evaluate students using specific achievement evaluations (including but not limited to WIAT, WJ-R, TOWL-4, TEMA, and TERA); provide oversight and administration of IEP meetings, IEP processes, and ensure adherence to all associated timelines, requirements, procedures, and documentation set forth in special education law and regulation. The Instructional Strategist will: attend and serve as the administrative designee authorized to commit District funds at initial eligibility, annual, and reevaluation IEP meetings, and other IEP meetings as determined by the Director of Instructional Support; review Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for identified students to assure that each IEP is complete, well-written, and in compliance with state and federal regulations; ensure case manager compliance with all special education timelines as required in the Child Find, evaluation, and IEP processes; provide feedback and training to special education case managers in regards to paperwork compliance.

Requirements:

Must hold a valid K-12 Special Education Certification (282) from Maine Dept. of Education.
