SUMMARY: Join an innovative team of educators supporting students with special needs in a unique and specialized setting attached to a community school. To meet the needs of students with complex learning and developmental needs, Lewiston Schools has established a multidisciplinary intensive education program designed to support students with individualized programming while encouraging them to benefit from their peers and offer access to naturalistic teaching settings.

This role is part of a highly supported team building on a strong programmatic structure for all classrooms with opportunities to individualize and innovate. The Special Education Clinician will play an integral role in the program in assessment, intervention, family engagement, consultation, collaboration, and leadership at all tiers of social-emotional intervention. This role offers many opportunities for team collaboration in order to best help students generalize their learning across settings.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Other duties may be assigned (see program handbook)

The clinician adheres to the ethics and values of the social work profession and uses their code of ethics to guide ethical decision-making. The clinician demonstrates the core values of service, social justice, dignity, and worth of the person, importance of human relationships, integrity, and competence.

The clinician will have knowledge of and comply with all local, state, and federal mandates related to informed consent, privacy and confidentiality, access to records, and access to education and special education as appropriate.

The clinician conducts assessments of individuals, families, and systems/organizations with the goal of improving student social, emotional, behavioral, and academic outcomes. They will use data and assessment to guide service delivery and evaluate their practice to improve and expand services.

The clinician understands and uses evidence-informed practices in their interventions to enhance positive educational experiences. Interventions will be applied within a multidisciplinary teaming model to teach and reinforce adaptive behavior, promote social emotional development, and create a classroom climate conducive to learning; small group and individualized interventions focused on improving early academic and social-emotional engagement to reduce problem behavior.

The clinician maintains accurate data and records that are relevant to planning, implementation, and evaluation of social work services.

The clinicians serve as leaders and consultants to facilitate an understanding of factors in the home, school, and community that affect students' educational experiences. The clinician provides training and engages parents, school personnel, and other professionals and community members in the removal of barriers to learning. The clinician provides leadership and collaboration in the implementation of comprehensive school-based and school-linked programs to promote student well-being and positive academic outcomes.

The clinician participates in individual and group supervision, professional development, and is part of the professional learning community to advance their skills and practice.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Collaborate with BCBA to provide BHP clinical supervision.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Master's degree from a graduate school of social work or counseling program.
