We are looking for a Case Manager to enhance the quality of special education compliance management, maximize family engagement and promote equitable and affirming education. Working from your home office in the United States, the Special Education Case Manager will virtually manage a caseload for students with disabilities.

The successful candidate will be accountable for the full compliance cycle. Case Manager duties include assessing, planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating actions required to meet the student's instructional and related service needs. You will work closely with other teachers and school professionals to ensure that the school’s special education program is successful and complies with federal, state, and local regulations. The Case Manager will utilize provided tech tools to complete IEP, reevaluation, eligibility, transition services, and progress monitoring reporting for students on their caseload.

Bonus: A nationally certified special educator is a plus, but you must have state-level certifications or be eligible within 1 year.

Responsibilities

  • Provide ongoing consultation and guidance on using new and innovative methods, strategies, and materials that enhance the education progress of students with disabilities.
  • Consult with teachers, administrators, and parents regarding the operational aspects of a special education program.
  • Complete academic assessments and write assessment reports, as needed, in preparation for IEPs or to assess ongoing progress
  • Develop, write, and manage IEPs
  • Coordinate appropriate curricular resources and co-plan with teachers to ensure IEP goals and objectives are met in an organized and sequential manner.
  • Provide consultation on curriculum accommodations which assists staff in accommodating the curriculum to meet the learning style and needs of the child with a disability.
  • Attend team training, meetings, committees, and teacher meetings as applicable.
  • Ensure all students on caseload are making progress on all goals
  • Maintain ongoing communication with families
  • Collaborate with specialists (OTs, SLPs, and other related service providers) and school staff on monitoring student progress throughout the year, including annual IEP goals.
  • Support assigned students receiving services at alternative placements or home-hospital services
  • Obtain academic present levels/baselines.
  • Follow-up with other service providers as needed to confirm that IEP attendance, reports, and services are being completed
  • Schedule and hold individual monthly conferences with the general education teachers and for families of students assigned to caseload, follow-up on any noted concerns
  • Complete ongoing contact logs and service logs.
  • Be available for families on your caseload on an as-needed basis via phone and online during school hours.
  • Draft Assessment Plans, Prior Written Notices, and other IEP-related documents to send within timelines
  • Coordinate finalization of IEP after a meeting and follow up on attendees as needed.
  • Ensure all documents are submitted and available prior to the IEP meeting (psychologist’s report, related services provider reports/goals, GE/parent progress reports) and forwarded to all IEP team members.
  • Develop effective working relations and cooperate with the school team throughout case management.
  • Arrange abeyances with social services, health, and governmental agencies
  • Take the extra mile and interact with students and families to keep track of their progress and ensure satisfaction
  • Record cases information, complete accurately all necessary forms and produce statistical reports
  • Promote quality and cost-effective interventions and outcomes
  • Assess and address motivational and psychosocial issues
  • Adhere to professional standards as outlined by protocols, rules and regulations

Requirements

  • Minimum of Bachelor's Degree
  • Proven working experience in Special Education and Case Management.
  • Excellent knowledge of case management principles, compliance management, and Medicaid reimbursement
  • Previous experience with urban and rural PreK-12 school systems
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Familiarity with professional and technical emerging knowledge in the Education field
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to multi-task
  • Compassionate with teamwork skills
  • Experience in Special Education laws and policy (IDEA) and/or administration
  • Strong technology skills (especially with Microsoft Office products, project management tools, and compliance systems)
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written
  • Customer focused approach
  • A high degree of flexibility
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a fast-paced virtual environment
  • Track record of being a strong team player

Please note that you are not eligible to work in this role if you currently work full-time in a school-based role.

Benefits

This is a remote contractor (1099) position with MindWorks Collaborative.

The pay rate is $40-$50/hr depending on experience.
